Founded by Dawn Macaulay, a business lawyer and regulatory compliance strategist with over eight years of legal experience, Edeva Legal combines commercial insight with expertise in corporate governance, AML/CFT compliance and commercial law. Our practice spans corporate and commercial law, regulatory compliance, international trade, immigration and intellectual property. We work with entrepreneurs, businesses and institutions to build sound legal foundations, meet regulatory obligations and pursue opportunities for growth in Nigeria, across Africa and beyond.

Dawn Macaulay

Managing Partner & Founder

Dawn Osaretin Macaulay is a business lawyer and regulatory compliance strategist with over eight years of legal experience spanning corporate and commercial law, regulatory advisory, corporate governance and financial crime compliance. She advises businesses on complex legal and regulatory matters, with particular expertise in AML/CFT frameworks, company secretarial practice, corporate structuring and corporate finance. Her professional experience encompasses private legal practice, regulatory and compliance advisory, and public service at the Ondo State Ministry of Justice, providing her with a multifaceted understanding of legal practice, institutional processes and the regulatory considerations that shape business operations. Dawn brings together legal acumen, commercial awareness and a strategic approach to risk management, governance and business protection. Her work is grounded in helping organisations navigate regulatory complexity, strengthen their legal and operational foundations, and pursue sustainable growth with confidence. She holds an LL.B. from Ambrose Alli University and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar.

Bernice Ofunre Asein

Bernice Asein is a Nigerian barrister and solicitor, fashion law pioneer and lawyer with over eight years of experience at the intersection of law, enterprise and the creative economy. Through her legal practice, institutional leadership and industry advocacy, she works with Edeva to bridge the gap between creativity and commerce, helping businesses protect their innovations, structure their operations and build sustainable enterprises. Her professional interests span fashion law, corporate and commercial law, startup advisory, intellectual property and the legal frameworks supporting Africa’s creative industries.

Bernice Asein is Of Counsel to Edeva Legal, advising on corporate and commercial law, compliance, and fashion, creative and entertainment law.

David Ikponmwosa Osiomwan

Operations Lead

David Osiomwan leads the coordination of Edeva Legal’s day-to-day operations, driving operational efficiency, effective resource management and seamless service delivery to Edeva clients. He oversees internal workflows, administrative functions and client engagement processes, ensuring that operational priorities are executed with structure, consistency and professionalism. His role supports the firm’s commitment to organisational excellence, responsive client service and the effective delivery of legal solutions.
